Cardfight!! Vanguard: Why Cardfight Vanguard?

Why Cardfight Vanguard?

“Why Cardfight Vanguard?”, a question that has been asked to me for so many times already by a dear friend of mine – whose name I shall not mention due to confidentiality reasons – and has become very redundant in the sense that it has somewhat become much of a nuisance (to me). Now before I state some reasons as to Why Cardfight Vanguard and try to convince you as to why you should, let me share to you as how and why I came to play about Cardfight!! Vanguard.

Before I played CFV, I was a regular Yu-Gi-Oh player (or as in the sport, players are called Dueslists) .Since 2008, I’ve been playing Yu-Gi-Oh and by 2010 I was able to successfully earn a slot on the top 100 cossy continental ranking by playing earnestly and competitively for two years. I continued to maintain the slot placement for up to a year and after then I decided to step down and just continued to play as a casual player rather than the competitive player I once used to be. This was because the game was taking a very preposterous shift of direction (in the meta). The new meta decks were all but "broken "(meaning’ very over-powered’ and unfair) and moreover,  the prices of the cards were skyrocketing so much that so many had already abandoned the hope to continue playing the game.

By December 2012, I already had enough of playing YGO.  The sport I once so loved that I’ve dedicated so much to it, has become nothing but a burden.

(To play) Cardfight Vanguard on the other hand, was an idea that I’ve always neglected and failed to look upon because I’ve always thought that it was still just too young and too early for the game to be played (having only less than two years of experience in the tcg business). I was dubious to invest in a game whose future was still unforeseeable and uncertain,  albeit it was already making a very fast progress in the marketing aspect of its franchise. But after some time of thinking about this, I came to realize, ”It is good that the game is still in its early and primal state. With this, the game is still not as complex as how it (unhopefully) will be. There is still  so much room for improvement of the game” I said to myself.

And that’s the reason why I play Cardfight!! Vanguard.  It’s because I want to pioneer in the development and the future of this card game; I want to be one of its early ’fathers’. So far, it has been such a great experience for me - with almost six months (by August) of competition and learning more about the game. Ten years from now, I can see myself, either playing in the national event or starting a business about this. What the future holds, only time will tell.

Vanguard United is a blog dedicated to the improvement and development  of cardfighters around the world. In the succeeding posts, we will formally begin writing about in depth scopes and analysis of playing the game. But before going 'in-depth', we shall first introduce you to the game and give you a comprehensive tutorial about it. Until next time.
